Over the course of 3 years, Walmac Civils were involved in the enabling works for the construction of Units N3,N4,N5,N6,N7,N8,C & E2 – eight new large scale logistics developments in Horizon Logistics Park in Swords, County Dublin.
Works to phase 1 (Units N6, N7 & N8) commenced in October 2021. The scope included excavation and earthwork to the site, removing site vegetation, topsoil for preservation for future backfilling, breaking up existing rock, brick, concrete etc. Extra care was taken excavating around existing services. The project also included disposal of surface and ground water. Top soil not suitable for re-use was disposed of off site in an
appropriate facility.
The scope also extended to excavation works to roads,paths and paving’s, including service yard and car park areas. Crushed rock was then deposited and compacted to make up levels to engineers spec. Larger main roads throughout the business were excavated, stabalised and compacted in preparation for road surfacing.Waterproofing works included installing a geotextile membrane to suit specifications.
Drainage works included excavating trenches to receive pipes, grading bottoms, earthwork support and also the installation of pipework for surface water and foul water drainage. The same was carried out for general site services including water main/Firemain, Gasmain andElectrical ducting.
In June 2022, Walmac Civils were awarded a further three units (N3, N4 & N5) with associated site works increasing the over square footage to over 281,000Sq.ft. Units C & E2 commenced in May 2023 increasing the overall square footage to over 570,000 Sq.ft. between the three phases.
